Floor Painting
Floor Planer
Often called a scabbler, a very versatile machine which can be set up with a variety flails, stars etc., and can be employed in many ways, on concrete, steel, asphalt etc. These include cleaning, texturing, removal of paint, rust, grease, concrete reduction, removal of roof chippings and thermoplastic line.
These machines should be considered if total removal of floor coatings is necessary, due to a change of use or coatings failure.
This method is quicker than diamond grinding but some surface damage should be expected. This may not be a problem as often a slight profile is a perfect key for any new floor coating.

Diamond or Carburundum Grinding
Single or twin headed with a full range of accessories.
Low noise with dust extraction makes this type of equipment ideal where noise and/or dust could be a problem.
Experience has taught us that on some surfaces it is necessary to shot blast after diamond grinding as often the grinding process has left a too highly polished surface for proper coating adhesion.

Encased Shot Blast
This machine is regarded as the ultimate in floor preparation techniques and should always be regarded as being the best from of preparation available today.
These machines work by propelling a shot at the floor which it recaptures time and time again whilst vacuum extracting all dust and debris simultaneously. By varying the size of shot and speed of travel, any number of cleaning, texturing or preparation profiles can be achieved quickly, cleanly and efficiently.
It should be remembered that most floor preparation machines should be used with some sort of vacuum extraction in line.

Mechanically Sand or Grind (STR)
This type of preparation is the most complex as it covers a very wide range of techniques and pieces of equipment.
These should be considered if either time or costs are a consideration, or if only parts of a floor are deemed to be unsound as localised preparation is more straight forward with this type of equipment. This work would normally be undertaken with an STR or similar.
The STR is a versatile piece of equipment, which has a number of interchangeable heads, ranging from emery pads or wire brushes to Tungsten and diamond blocks. Additional weights may be added to increase pressure.
This is a much favoured piece of equipment amongst floor painters or flooring contractors.

Mechanically Scrub
Pedestrian/ride on type floor scrubber with detergent additive to thoroughly clean floor and provide a key for subsequent floor coatings.
The simplest and cheapest form of preparation. This should be regarded as the very least form of preparation for any floor painting.
This method is suitable for repainting a previously painted floor, which is considered to be well applied and soundly adhered.
